I’m not a huge donut person. never really have been. my dad says I am not his child… I seem to think I am. donuts just never really leave me thinking, ‘man, that was delicious!’ they usually leave me thinking, ‘meh, that was dough-y.’ (probably why they’re called donuts, eh?) anyways, everyone r a v e s about Darci’s Dinky Donuts in Monroe, Washington, and I figured, maybe I should try them. so I did, specifically the cinnamon sugar donut. and then, I was kind of blown away! they were light, fluffy, and not… dough-y. then, my next thought was, ‘wow, how cool would these cinnamon sugar donuts be on a cake?!’ so, this decadent madagascar vanilla bean cake + cinnamon sugar buttercream + white chocolate drip cake was born, adorned with two dozen mini cinnamon sugar donuts from Darci’s, and set with dried eucalyptus and seeded eucalyptus from the Seattle Wholesale Grower’s Market (my absolute go-to for floral, at least off-season)!
