2016 was the first year I hopped on with the Snohomish Wedding Guild to participate in the My Snohomish Wedding Tour. I had never done a wedding show of any sort, and had no idea what to expect! I was bringing my one-woman-show (I mean, I do everything from bookkeeping to ingredient sourcing to baking to delivering!) to a pretty large wedding show – alone! I spent the Friday and Saturday before baking and frosting some display cakes, at that time what I was envisioning my “favorite style” could be (I had yet to do any branding or ideal client work!), and gathered what I could to make a beautiful, rustic display.
The Snohomish Wedding Guild is a group of 200+ wedding professionals that serve the Snohomish area, and 20+ Snohomish venues that are within the Snohomish School District limits. The Guild has been around for over 8 years, and what started as just 25 people has become 250!
I was welcomed to the brand new (and absolutely stunning) venue of Olympic View Estates that is just into Lake Stevens. This beautiful venue is owned by Pam and Trent Chittick, who brought this place from a run down farm barn and chicken coop to a gorgeous, hardwood indoor/outdoor venue and bridal cottage! As you step outside of the big doors to the turfed outdoor area, you look down immediately over the tiered turfed ceremony area that is surrounded by a landscaped (man-made) “river” that flows beneath the platform that the bride and groom are wed on. Luscious green grass and wildflowers surround the venue and ceremony spaces. Beyond the venue is a beautiful view of the Snohomish valley, the river, and the mountains. It really is stunning! Pam and Trent have thought of every single detail you could need for your wedding day, and have kept sustainability in mind; most of the wood is wood they harvested off the very property! Everything at this venue has a story.
The vendor team was also incredible. The Petal and The Stem put forth a gorgeous, whimsical floral and decor set up. The most stunning glass bowls with greenery, floral stems, vines and floating flowers sat in the centers of the tables, garlands were expertly placed. It was stunning! Vintage Ambiance provided several furniture rentals, including a gorgeous display table loaded with floral! One of my good friends, DanYelle McNeely, was the photographer, and her raw and emotion-filled style brought such life. Her husband, Travis, was the in-house DJ (they often book as a package, how awesome!). Katina Ewing of Katina Arnott Photography was the second photographer on site, and conveniently lives adjacent to the North end of the property! Eternal Knot Weddings was the day-of coordinator on site. One of my favorite caterers, Nola’s Events, was on site serving some delicious appetizers, including my kryptonite, brie!
As I gathered photos (taken by DanYelle McNeely Photography) for this blog post, I couldn’t help but smile. My work has come SO FAR in just 9 months, and I have really discovered the style and clients I love since this point! Nonetheless, these cake photos are a little throwback of what got my wedding experience started! This is the day I started booking weddings, and I booked 6 last summer!
I hope you enjoyed this little snippet of my “before” to my current “after”!
